2021 Foals
An exciting season this year with five mares due to foal. Unfortunately it has been a very slow start with only one on the ground so far (December), but the foaling paddock has four more fatties in it so hopefully more foals soon (early January) ... and finally the last one is here (March).
Rushmoor Nautica
This is another lovely filly by Casper out of Ava (Landioso/Anamour) and almost a spitting image to her full sister Hot Shot with a blaze and three white socks. Ava is most protective of this filly and has barely let me get near her, but patience is winning out and slowly but surely we are making friends.
Nautica is an incredibly strong looking girl with a ton of power in that rump, but with a pretty girlie head on the other end. As with all of Ava's offspring she also has the stunning movement and we are hoping for big things with this one as her siblings have all been incredibly talented.
Nautica has been sold and will be heading all the way to Greymouth when she is weaned.
Rushmoor North Star
This colt is a real little cutie, but surprisingly has arrived in a much smaller package than the normal foal around here. Star is by Casper out of my Irish mare Eyreleigh Tir-Na-Nog (Coalmans Touch) and is quite the petite, fine boned offspring who we would not expect from his large, strong boned parents. At three days old he can still fit easily under mum but if not big in size he makes up for it in personality.
Star is nicely marked with ... a star ... and three little socklets. He is very cute I have to admit and very active too with a quick, inquisitive mind. It will be interesting to see how he grows compared to his siblings but they do say 'good things come in small packages'.
Rushmoor Nico
Not two days after Star arrived Nico made his appearance and they are exact opposites. Nico is huge, gangly and a bit slow but it was his first day on earth so we will make an exception. Casper is also the sire of this foal and my other Irish mare Tui Hills Celtic Mead (Te Mania Blue Fable/Jaguar) is the dam.
Nico has got great markings, a wide symmetrical blaze and two socks at the back. He is going to be one big boy if first impressions count and if he inherits his mum or dad's temperament he will be a very cruisy individual. Out of all the foals this year Nico has the best nature with such an accepting, friendly temperament always keen for a bit of a cuddle.
Rushmoor Nadia
What a cracker of a filly this one is by Casper out of Rotterdam (Rohdinger/Anamour). Legs on her like a giraffe and a gorgeous neck set, she's going to be a stunner. Although hard to see from the photos she has a blaze and two white hind socks so plenty of bling also.
Nadia is quite bold at this stage, or is it naive? And Rotterdam has finally come around to being the perfect mum (only took 4 goes). Would not be at all upset if this one was left unsold in the paddock.
Rushmoor Nixon
The last foal for the season has finally arrived, but is well worth the wait - a stunning palomino colt with a lovely blaze and two white hind socks. Dixon is by Casper out of Jilly (Voltaire II/Witzbold) and will be one of Jilly's last foals as she is getting on in age. But boy has she left some lovely progeny and this colt is no exception.
Nixon is a big boy with solid legs. He has only been here a week but has already weathered one of the worst storms I have ever seen with lightening every 2 minutes and thunder underneath the house by the sounds of it. And he survived without going through the fence so a sensible fella at that.
