2023 Foals
Well the foaling season has come to an end at the stud with five fine foals on the ground. Here's what we have.
Rushmoor Portia
My partner has bought himself a Porsche so now I have one too (spelt a little differently). This lovely filly is certainly in the same league as the classic Porsche car being a product of the ever reliable Ava (Landioso/Anamour) and Casper. She arrived a very fat foal and has stayed that way ever since, Ava has done her well. Welcome to the world Portia.
Rushmoor Pegasus
What a beauty this colt is! He is by Casper and out of Rotterdam (Rohdinger/Anamour). As is Rotterdam's customary style she foaled him right next to the fence so that on his first attempt to stand he was through to the other side. Luckily I was there to help push him back through before he managed to get control of those very, very long legs of his and after a few minutes of adjustment he was away. I am very pleased with this one.
PS Sadly Pegasus is no longer with us due to an incurable illness, a battle he bravely fought but did not win.
Rushmoor Paddy
A gorgeous, strong Irish colt - exactly what I ordered. Paddy is by Casper out of Tui Hills Celtic Mead (Te Mania Blue Fable/Jaguar) so is able to be registered with the NZ Irish Society. He is a lovely strong, upstanding colt and was born on Christmas Day, a beautiful gift.
Pedigree
Rushmoor Phoenix
Lucky last is the gorgeous Phoenix, all legs and head at the moment but at 5 days old that's to be expected. Phoenix is by Casper out of Eyreleigh Tir-Na-Og (Coalmans Touch) so is another foal able to be registered with the NZ Irish Society. It may be hard to see from the picture but Phoenix has 3 lovely stockings and one tiny socklet on the other leg. Not something those low maintenance riders would be looking for but certainly eye catching in the show ring. Phoenix is a Boxing Day special.
Pedigree
Rushmoor Percival
But wait .... there's more. A very late comer for the 2023 season is the "cute as a button" Percy who is by Casper out of Jilly (Voltaire II/Witzbold). Born 7 June 2024 (so only just made it before the new season starts) he is an upstanding strong colt who reminds me of a charger. He was a bit of a surprise as I thought Jilly was in foal to my young NZPH colt whom she was baby sitting, but clearly there was a brief liaison with Casper which I had overlooked. Fortunately he was born with a fat padding and an immensely woolly coat ready to take on the winter elements.
